In the temple town of Madurai, the site was in the vicinity of the famous Meenakshi temple. Being situated in an extremely busy Agraharam, the plot was between the row houses, with little or no ventilation from the adjacent two sides. A central courtyard was designed to pool in maximum light and ventilation. An urban landscape, which is partially open to sky was designed in the front facade. A platform was raised in the terrace, which acted as a viewing deck towards the gopurams of the temple and also served as an area to exercise and relax.
